About Me

Hometown: Orem, Utah, United States
I'm on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Japan. I have the most awesome sister in the world, (Chelsea) who helps my mom blog for me. I love it here in Japan and am so grateful for the chance I have to share the gospel and the blessings it brings with the Japanese people.

THE HOUSE OF THE LORD

"The temple has quickly become my favorite place on the planet! It seems like no matter what is on your mind or how your day has been up to that point, as soon as you walk through the temple doors, Satan has no power over you. My mind is just at such peace and it is beautiful...and in the Celestial Room, the Spirit just testifies to me that I am doing the right thing. I can't get enough of it! I wish we could visit the temple more often."

WHAT IS IT LIKE AT THE MTC?

This is where Ky spends about 10 hours a day. I think their bums must be numb!

Ky's desk in his room, with lots of pictures of friends and family back home.
Now that is a COMFY looking bed...not!
"WOW! Which dryer did I use?"
It's not Olive Garden...that's for sure!

THE REFERRAL CENTER

KY's letter 6-17-2008: "I had a really awesome experience this week in the Referral Center. It is a place shere we get to go and chat with people around the world who come to Mormon.org and have questions. Last Saturday, I was able to talk to a single mom, named Leah, and she had so many questions. I could just feel she was searching for answers and was looking to fill a void in her life that only the gospel can satisfy. I told her ab0ut a lot of things, from The Book of Mormon, all the way to what we believe about life after death, and she was really interested. She even set up an appointment to meet with the missionaries in her area! I keep praying for her and hope everything works out. I wish we were able to get updates on the people we talk too. Oh well, it's in the Lord's hands now."

DISTRICT PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE

"I really love my District Presidency, they are all so genuine. It's hard to believe that someone can truly love you right off the bat, when you are a complete stranger, but I really feel like these men do."

I LOVE MY DISTICT!

Ky's letter 6-17-2008: "I just want to say, my district is seriously the BEST!

The thing I love most is we have the perfect balance of having a good time, while still being able to be spiritual and learn effectively."

There has never been a cooler, funnier, or closer district EVER in the MTC!

Ky's attempt at creative photography...not too bad.

MTC LIFE June 4th-August 18th 2008

THE LONG WALK

I wanted to get a picture of Ky with his luggage walking down the hall to his room, pulling all his belongings for the next 2 years. It was raining SO hard and everyone was blocking my way, so I couldn't get to him fast enough. If you look close you can see him in the distance.

LAST LEGAL HUGS

LOVE YOU BRO

SEEING KY OFF AT THE MTC!!

It was a really rainy day, but we managed to all get together for one last family photo. We wished Chelsea and the gang could have been with us. It was a very bitter-sweet day, but one I wouldn't trade for the world. Ky was so excited to finally be leaving on his mission! We all felt such a wonderful spirit in the MTC...it was amazing. I really held it together until it was time to sing "Called to Serve" and then I kind of lost it...so did the rest of the family. It was a very spirit-felt experience.

A VERY PROUD MOM

This was a very touching moment for me, getting to put Ky's name tag on for the first time. Kirby and I are so proud of Ky for being worthy and willing to serve a mission and share the gospel with the people in Japan. We waited a long, long time for this moment.

"I"LL MISS YOU LITTLE BUDDY"

This was a tender moment for Ky, saying good-bye to Kale. He loves his niece, Amelia, and nephews, Kale and Jack, so much. His last words to Kale were, "Don't forget me!" It's crazy to think they'll be 8, 6, and 5, when he gets back.

LAST NIGHT WITH FRIENDS

This was Ky's last night before entering the MTC in the morning. He is surrounded by all his great friends. Ky has been blessed with the best bunch of friends on the earth. They have always been there to support one another, strengthen one another, and help one another. Ky's best friend, Rob, isn't in the picture...he had already left on his mission to Malaga, Spain. Go get them Rob, Ky, and Mike, (leaving for Chile one week after Ky.)
